The Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XII was the first Spitfire to enter service with a Griffon engine. It was a hurried adaptation of an existing prototype and the completion of 100 airframes, already on production, to a similar standard resulting from an operational requirement for a high speed, low-altitude fighter. Fitted with "clipped" wings, its primary mission was to combat low level Luftwaffe "hit and run" raids on British coastal targets. The squadrons utilizing this aircraft were restricted to home use only and this variant was declared obsolete in February, 1946. This older, out-of-production, limited edition kit includes a color paint guide, illustrated instructions and authentic decals for a Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XII, MB 882 of No. 41 Squadron, R.A.F., 1944. The box is in very good condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
