The book, Time Capsule: 1951 - The Year In Review, is a reproduction of the magazine's original reporting over 50 years ago at the dawn of the "Cold War".  The intent in this book is to reproduce from their extensive archive, the look and language of TIME's original 1951 magazine issues. To this end, each of the stories in this volume is presented much as it first appeared in TIME, though some have been reduced in length to accomodate as much material as possible.  During 1951, much was occurring across the globe.  It was the last year of Harry Truman's presidency and the dawn of the "Cold War".  Abroad, American's were fighting in far-off Korea, the Chinese Communist's were radically reshaping their nation's culture and Juan and Eva Peron were the talk of Argentina.  In America, citizen's were building bomb shelters and the Rosenberg's had been tried and convicted of giving United State's nuclear secrets to the Russians.  It was also the height of Joseph McCarthy's crusade to rid the United States government of Communist agents.  TIME did publish a major story in 1951 that exposed McCarthy's false claims and went so far as labeling him a "demagogue".  On the entertainment front it was a time of I Love Lucy, Steve Allen and Ed Sullivan.  American's were "getting to know" Rogers and Hammerstein's The King And I, as well as, A Streetcare Named Desire.  Sports fans admired Bobby Thompson's ninth-inning home run that won the pennant for the New York Giants.  In short, TIME Capsule: 1951 - The Year In Review, is sure to please those of us who lived through this important period of American History along with anyone interested what it must have been like to live through this period of "TIME".  This magazine is 60 pages and is in excellent condition.  Edition produced by TIME Publishing.  Edition published as a TIME capsule in 2001.
