The book, Taube, Dove Of War, represents a comprehensive study of the Etrich Taube (Dove), which was a pre-World War I single engine monoplane aircraft and the first mass-produced military aircraft in Germany.  The Etrich Taube was used for a variety of military applications including as a bomber, fighter, reconnaissance aircraft and trainer.  The Etrich Taube was considered "state-of-the-art" from its first flight in 1910 until the beginning of World War I in 1914 by which time it was found to be virtually obsolete as a viable military aircraft.  In addition to the German Air Force, the Etrich Taube, was flown by the air forces of Austria-Hungary, Great Britain and Italy.  The Etrich Taube carried a crew of two and had the following operational characteristics: 1) Top speed of 60 mph; 2) Range of 86 miles and Service ceiling of 10,000 feet.  The major sections of "Taube, Dove Of War" are as follows: 1) Acknowledgements; 2) Foreword; 3) Chapter I - Origins Of The Taube; 4) Chapter II - Taubes In Mufti; 5) Chapter III - Taubes In War Paint; 6) Chapter IV - Flexible Spars And Steel Tubes; 7) Chapter V Roll Call Of Taubes; 8) Chapter VI Survivors And Successors; 9) Chapter VII Taubes That Got Away; 10) Etrich 1913 Taube, 3-View Scale Drawing and 11) Taube Dimensional And Performance Data.  In addition to an authoritative narrative, "Taube, Dove Of War" includes the following features: 1) Approximately 220 vintage black and white photographs and 2) About 36 black and white aircraft illustrations.  This book is 84 pages and is in very good condition.  The author is Colonel John A. de Vries.  Edition published in 1978.
