The book, The 31st Fighter Group In World War II, highlights the outstanding record of this fighter group which flew British Spitfire and American Mustangs in the 8th, 12th and 15th Air Forces. While this fighter group was the first American one to participate in the European Theater Of Operations, it ended the war as the top scoring Allied fighter group in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations and the 5th highest overall for the United States Army Air Corps with over 570 confirmed aerial victories. This fighter group scored a number of firsts including the first American Fighter Group to land in Algeria, first American Fighter Group to be based in Sicily and the first American Fighter Group to be based in Malta. Included in this book are the following: 1) About 200 black and white photographs; 2) Line drawings and 3) 40 color profiles. This book is 80 pages.
