The Upscale Packard Motor Company had its start with the production of their first vehicle on November 6, 1899.  Each successive year brought new innovations and continual improvements to each Packard.  Late in 1928, Packard introduced their sixth series speedster that was designed as a personal sports automobile.  Built on a short 126.5 inch wheel-base, the car was available as a Phaeton or Roadster.  The success of the initial speedsters was limited and only seventy examples were produced.  Despite the disappointing sales, however, a new line of speedster was created for 1930.  While the introduction of the seventh series speedsters featured an increased selection of body styles, the "Boat-tail" and "Phaeton" designs were the most popular variants.  The Phaeton bodies were handcrafted in Packard's custom body works giving the Phaeton Speedster a look of classic elegance.  The Packard Speedster was powered by a high-performance in-line eight-cylinder engine capable of pushing this vehicle at speeds of up to 100 m.p.h.  The Speedster bodies were narrower and lower than conventional Packardvehicles of the time.  Due to the worsening economic environment of the "Great Depression", however, only 150 of all variants were produced before management discontinued this line of cars.  This older, out-of-production Packard Speedster Phaeton four door touring car scaled model includes the following features: 1) Chrome parts; 2) Clear plastic wind screens; 3) Detailed chassis; 4) Detailed in-line 8 cylinder engine; 5) Detailed interior; 6) Hood removes to reveal the straight eight engine; 7) Hood ornament; 8) Luggage rack; 9) Molded in brown and green color plastic; 10) Side-mount spares; 11) Four vinyl black tires with whitewall inserts and 12) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
