The movie, The Cowboys centers on a "leather-tough" rancher who, deserted by his regular help, hires eleven school boys for a cattle drive across 400 treacherous miles wilderness.  While John Wayne had brawled bare knuckle, battled in the jungle, fought many gunfights, and piloted the skies, "The Cowboys" gave him one of his "juicest roles".  When the dust had settled, John Wayne had turned in one of his best performances.  This point is more poignant when one considers that over his acting career, "The Duke" had starred in over 200 films.  This DVD includes the following additional features: 1) Commentary by Director Mark Rydell; 2) New Cast/Director Reunion Featurette "The Cowboys": Together Again; 3) Vintage Featurette "The Breaking Of Boys And The Making Of Men" and 4) Original theatrical trailer.  Starring John Wayne, Roscoe Lee Browne and Bruce Dern among others.  Widescreen in color.  Released in 1971.  Runtime 135 minutes.
