The movie, The Final Assault: Hell's Brigade, is an Italian film that centers on an Allied commando team charged with the task of disrupting and misleading the Germans into fortifying a position by depleting their forces elseware on the battlefront.  The idea is to trick the German's into reducing their forces in certain sectors of the front so that the American forces can take advantage of this and attack the weakened portion of the battleline.  An interesting twist to the plot is that each team member is only given a specific task without knowing the "big" picture of what the overall plan looks like.  Added to this is the fact that the commando team includes a German Major who has crossed over to the Allied cause.  Additional complications arrise once the commando team parachutes into Germany when the group rescues a downed Allied flyer who then becomes a reluctant volunteer until the completion of the mission.  The mission takes place in the late summer of 1944 and has as a backdrop the recently failed attempt by a number of German generals to kill Adolf Hitler on July 20th, 1944.  If this top secret mission succeeds it will shorten the war by months but if the commando team  fails they will likely die.  This movie is certain to appeal to anyone interested in World War II films.  Starring Jack Palance, Andrea Bosk and John Gramack among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1969.  Runtime 101 minutes.
