The film, The G.I. Bill: The Law That Changed America, chronicles the history and impact of the famous enacted Federal law that guaranteed education, housing and business loans to over 16 million sailors and soldiers returning from service during World War II.  As World War II was raging in far-off lands and the attention of most Americans was focused on these events, the Congress passed a law that would forever change the fabric of American Society.  Rather than allowing servicemen to return home from World War II to an uncertain future, the American Congress drafted this bill to help educate them for a far more promising life than could have ever been imagined before the war.  This documetary is even more interesting when the viewer hears personal stories from some of the G.I.s who were helped by the bill.  Personal experiences are related from the likes of Harry Belafonte the actor, writer Art Buchwald, Nobel Prize Laureate Martin Perl, N.A.S.A. Engineer Dan Herman, historian William Leuchtenburg,  former Senator Bob Dole and economist Andrew Brimmer.  In the end, the G.I. Bill was a win / win in that it changed, in a positive manner, the personal lives of millions of former servicemen and in so doing changed for the better the economic fabric of America as a whole.  This film is narrated by actor Cliff Robertson.  Full screen in black & White and color.  Released in 1997.  Runtime 60 minutes.
