A true story of British, American and Canadian POWs who successfully escape from an "escape proof" Stalag Luft III in Uperr Silesia in March 1944.  For over a year, 600 prisoners work toward an escape in which only a fraction of their number will be able to break out.  Their mission is to escape in numbers sufficient temporily disrupt the operations of the German Army.  This is definitely one of my top 10 war movies of WW II.
