The movie, The Gunfighter, centers on a notorious killer in the Old West named Jimmy Ringo.  While Ringo's appetite for bloodletting is behind him, he is forced to stay on the run in order to avoid gunfights with young gunners who are determined to kill the deadliest shot in the west.  The movie open's with Ringo being confronted by a young gunner who he ends up killing in self defense.  Ringo is advised to leave town before his other three borthers show-up to seek revenge.  Ringo confronts the pursuing brothers just outside of town and succeeds in scattering their horses.  With the avenging brothers temporarily out of the way, Ringo rides to the nearby town of Cayenne where he hopes to convince his estranged wife to resume their life together.  After arriving, Ringo causes a sensation with more "young bucks" gunning for him.  Rinago's former partner in crime is now the sheriff of Cayenne and he looks to him for protection while trying to find his wife.  The clock is ticking, however, as Ringo knows it is only a matter of time before the avenging brothers show-up to take him on.  The only question is whether or not Ringo will be able to speak with his wife before he has to either leave town or take on the dead gunman's three brothers.  Starring Gregory Peck, Helen Westcott and Millard Mitchell among others.  Full screen in black and white.  Released in 1950.  Runtime 85 minutes.
