The movie, The Hallelujah Trail, is a sprawling, wacky comedy spoofing nearly every convention of movie Westerns.  At the center of this Western, with restored sequences unseen for 25 years, are 42 wagonloads full of whisky bound for the thirsty city of Denver.  A hard nosed, by-the-book colonel is ordered to escort this precious cargo to Denver but has to contend with an equally hard-nosed temperance woman, wild eyed Indians, thirsty miners, strike-bound Irish teamsters and a beautiful daughter who has a foundness for a certain calvery captain.  The climax of this movie finds all of them converging in a blinding dust storm which results in the "Battle Of Whiskey Hill" where bullets fly "with nary a soul hit"!  This film is definitely a different type of western but the laughter and scenery make it well worth watching.  This two video version of The Hallelujah Trail includes the original theatrical trailer.  Starring Burt Lancaster, Lee Remick and Jim Hutton among others.  Widescreen in color.  Released in 1965.  Runtime 155 minutes.
