The movie The Hill centers on a 60 feet high and 210 feet long hill that tlooms over a British stockade in the hot African desert during World War II.  A "man-made" purgatory of rock and sand, the "hill" is an abusive and soul-eroding monument to man's brutality to man.  The central plot of the movie centers on Joe Roberts who is a British officer imprisoned for refusing to obey a suicidal order.  Once Officer Roberts is imprisoned in the stockade, he is exposed to any manner of abuse by a sadistic guard and a by-the-book Master Sergeant in this hellfire of punishment.  The Hill was filmed entirely within the confines of a real prison stockade.  Starring Sean Connery, Harry Andrews and Ian Bannen among others.  Full screen in black and white.  Released in 1965.  Runtime 123 minutes.
