The model, The Jupiter 2 (Lost in Space) represents the first mass-produced injection molded kit of the spaceship from the 1960s classic TV series "Lost In Space". The series first aired on September 15, 1965 and ran until March 6, 1968 in its original run and then ran as a "rerun" for many additional years to come. In the 83 episodes, the series covered the adventures of the Robinson family, Doctor Smith, the spacecraft co-pilot and the group's trusted robot. The Jupiter 2 was the spaceship carrying this intrepid group on their space tracvels and was launched on the then far-away date of October 17, 1997. The Jupiter 2 was originally named the Gemini 12 and was a single level spaceship in the pilot episode. By the time the series comenced airing on television as a regular weekly television program it had been renamed the Jupiter 2 and was a two level spaceship. This Jupiter 2 model faithfully recreates the two level spaceship and is believed to be the most accurate rendition of it ever available on the market. This older, out-of-production Jupiter 2 model measures 12 inches across when complete, is molded in gray and yellow-tan collered plastic and includes the following features: 1) Beautiful Box art depicting the landing of the Jupiter 2; 2) Clear plastic cockpit and spacehip window areas; 3) Clear plastic travel areas; 4) Detailed landing gear; 5) Full interior detail for both levels of the spaceship; 6) Lift-off cover that reveals all interior areas and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in excellent condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts and instructions inventoried.
