The book, The Master Scratch Builders: The Aircraft Models and Techniques, examines aircraft models by a number of outstanding practitioners from around the world and provides detailed coverage of their often widely varying techniques. Included in this book are seven "How I Built My", chapters covering the Curtiss HS-2L, Short Singapore III, De Havilland DH 9A, Gloster Gamecock, Grumman TBF-1C Avenger, Mitsubishi G4M "Betty" and Avro Lancaster from seven leading scratch builders in the field. Each of these chapters includes color photographs of the featured model plus numerous detail construction illustrations. Other chapters explain vacuforming, model subject research, finishing techniques and tools, supplies & materials required for this craft. While the emphasis is on aircraft from the two world wars, the 1920s and 1930s are also represented by civil, commercial, military and racing aircraft. This book offers visual excitement for the aviation historian and modeller, as well as, an invaluable, comprehensive technical reference with over 300 color and black & white photographs and a number of line drawings. This book is 168 pages and is in excellent condition but is missing the dust jacket. The image above is of a comparable book with the dust jacket. The general editor is John Alcorn. Edition published in 1999.
