The book, The Modern Steam Car and its background, was first published in 1932.  This facsimile reprint was made of a 2nd edition of the original book published in 1943.  The books author, Thomas S. Derr, was considered one of the leading authorities in the successful use of steam as a motive power for wheeled vehicles.  Mr. Derr's publication of "The Modern Steam Car and it background" in 1932 it is still considered one of the latest and best books available on Steam cars.  It includes descriptions and specifications of many of the steam cars produced as of the early 1930s.  Floyd Clymer subsequently purchased the publishing rights from Mr. Derr.  The current publisher has also included a supplement at the conclusion of the original book.  The major sections of "The Modern Steam Car and its background" is as follows: 1) The Magic of Steam; 2) The History of Steam Power; 3) The History of Steam Cars; 4) The Modern Steam Car and 5) The Operation and Care of Modern Steam Cars.  In addition to an informative narrative, this book includes the following features: 1) Approximately 35 black and white vintage photographs and 2) About 87 black and white illustrations.  While this book is not highly technical in nature, it is certain to appeal to anyone interested in the subject of steam powered cars.  This book is 148 pages and is in new condition.  The author is Thomas S.
