The book, The Nazis, presents a comprehensive record of the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. The origins of the Nazi Party are traced back to the early days of rabble-rousing and beer-hall brawling in postwar Munich. The accent of the Nazi's as a political force occurs in tumultuous 1930s is followed by World War II and the eventual collapse of the political organization and Germany itself in the ruins of Berlin in 1945. After the abortive Munich putsch in 1923, Adolf Hitler and other key Nazis devised a plan to be legally elected into office in 1933. Once the aging Chancellor Paul von Hindenburg died in 1933, Adolf Hitler forced his way into the top executive position in Germany and the path of history was changed forever. The fateful years that followed saw the setting-up of concentration camps, the persecution of Jews and political opponents, the book burnings, the build-up of Germany's armed forces and then, just prior to the start of World War II, the famous Nazi Nuremberg rallies with their breathtaking 'cathedrals of light'. "The Nazis" includes the following major sections: 1) Soldiers against Socialists; 2) Hitler's Beginnings; 3) The Birth of Nazism; 4) The Beer-Cellar Putsch; 5) The Nazis Fight for Power; 6) Hitler Imposes a Revolution; 7) Rohm and the Bloodbath of 1934; 8) Nazism Breaks its Bonds; 9) Death Works Overtime; 10) Acknowledgments; 11) Bibliography and 12) Index.
