The movie, The Outlaw Josey Wales, is one of actor / director Clint Eastwood's all time best movies. As the film opens, Josey Wales is a simple farmer scratching out a living working the land in Missouri. When a cut-throat band of "Union Red Legs", led by Terrill burns his home and kills his wife and son, Wales joins a group of Confederate rebel raiders in order to get revenge. After the Confederacy losses the war, Wales sets out on his own to somehow survive in the West. He eventually meets an old Indian and some other outcasts and together they seek out a more peaceful existence. Meanwhile, Terril continues to hunt Wales forcing the former farmer to fight again. This movie, made in the shadow of the failed Vietnam War and Watergate, conveys a bitter distrust of government along with the natural longing to live in peace. Many consider the movie, The Outlaw Josey Wales, one of the greatest Westerns ever made. Starring Clint Eastwood, Chief Dan George and Sondra Locke. Full screen in color. Released in 1976. Runtime 135 minutes.
