The movie, The Philadephia Story, is a wonderfully satirical look at the trials and tribulations of the privileged class. The plot of this film centers on a wealthy Philadelphia suburb where the rich, spoiled socialite Tracy Lord lives. It soon becomes apparent that Tracy Lord is a woman of high ideals and a low tolerance for human frailties particularly in a husband. Arrogantly, she has just divorced one and is about to wed another. Hoping to prevent the new marriage, the ex-husband shows-up at the wedding bringing along a magazine journalist to witness the event. The Journalist ends up falling for the sociallite all the while matching her acid, sophisticated wit line for line. The Philadelphia Story remains to this day, one of the most hilarious, romantic comedies ever to be filmed. Starring Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and James Stewart among others. Full screen in black and white. Released in 1940. Runtime 112 minutes.
