The book, The Piper Cub Story, tells the fascinating story of one of the most beloved light tandem seat, single engine aircraft ever produced.  The Piper J-3 made its first flight in 1938 and by the time production ceased in 1947, over 20,000 of all variants had been produced.  During World War II, Piper Cubs were utilized by the United States Army Air Force for Liaison and Observation duty and were designated as the L-4.  The focus of "The Piper Cub Story" is on the civilian Piper J-3C-65 Cub, powered by a 65 horsepower Continental A65-8 engine.  While the J-3 Cub is fondly remembered by most, to some unlucky student pilots it was known as a "recalcitrant monster" and an unforgiving aircraft.  To the experienced pilot, however, the J-3 Cub was the epitome of ease of handling, economy and safety.  While the focus of this book is on the J-3 Cub, later developments of the basic design including the PA-11 Cub Special and PA-18 Super Cub are reviewed in one chapter.  The major sections of this book are as follows: 1) The Piper Story; 2) The J-3 in Detail; 3) Inspection and Maintenance; 4) Flying the Cub; 5) The PA-11 and PA-18 Super Cubs; 6) The J-3 Cub Parts Catalog and 7) Bibliography.  In addition to an informative narrative, "The Piper Cub Story" includes the following features: 1) Approximately 55 black and white photographs; 2) About 13 black and white illustrations; 3) 1 three-view black and white illustration of the Piper Cub J-3 Trainer; 4) 1 J-3 Lubrication Chart and 5) 1 Super Cub exploded view with aircraft component descriptions.  This book is 108 pages and is in very good condition.  The author is James M. Triggs.  Edition published in 1969.
