The Western themed movie, The Scalphunters is a rousing adventure story packed with irresistible humor and satirical commentary.  The central character is Joe Bass, a crusty fur trapper who is full of fire and vinegar.  Early on in the movie, Joe's hard-earned cargo of pelts is seized by a band of "friendly" Kiowas in exchange for a captured, runaway slave.  As it turns out, the runaway slave is well educated and is just as determined to get his freedom as Joe is to get his furs back.  Enter a band of cut-throat scaphunters who want to steal or cheat from anyone they can and all hell breaks loose.  In the end, this movie blends hard-hitting action with free-wheeling comedy to deliver great outdoor entertainment.  Starring Burt Lancaster, Telly Savalas and Ossie Davis among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1968.  Runtime 100 minutes.
