A classic Western regarded by many as the best of the genre, The Searchers directed by legendary John Ford has been acknowledged by several directors who came of age in the 1970's as an influential and powerful influence on their work.  The film centers on an embittered frontiersman engaged in an obsessive search for his niece who had been abducted years before by Indians who killed her family in retaliation for a massacre in their village.  If you are going to watch one classic Western this is it.  Starring John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter, Vera Miles and Ward Bond among others.  Widescreen in color.  Released in 1956.
