The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was a four engine, high wing American heavy bomber that was produced in greater numbers than any other American combat aircraft of World War II. It was used by many Allied air forces and every U.S. branch of service during the war. While, the B-24 provided excellent service during World War II given its large payload and long range capabilities it did suffer from a reported tendency to catch fire when under attack. The B-24 was also reported to be more difficult to fly then the B-17 bomber due to "heavy control forces" which made it difficult to maintain a tight box formation while flying in groups. The focus of the book The Soldier: Consolidated B-24 Liberator (Living History Series, Vol. 2) is on the telling the story of this great American bomber. This book looks at specific crew positions, the equipment they used, and what they saw both inside and outside of the aircraft. Included in this book are 58 color photographs, 47 period black and white photographs and a number of illustrations. This book is 64 pages and is in very good condition. The authors are Paul Perkins and Michelle Crean with Dan Patterson (photography). Edition published in 1994.
