The movie, The Sound Of Music, perhaps the most popular musical of all time, is a heartwarming, inspirational and true story of the lives of the Trapp Family Singers. The story centers on Maria who is a spirited Austrian woman studying to take her religious vows on the eve of World War II. Suspecting that Maria's true calling may be outside the convent, the Mother Superior arranges for her to leave the convent and become the governess to the many children of the widower, Baron Von Trapp. Maria brings warmth and music to the strict household of the former naval captain. Over time Maria wins over the children and eventually the Baron himself in this classic romance. Rodger's and Hammerstein's musical scores include some of the world's best-loved songs including: "Do-Re-Mi" and "Edelweiss" among others. Starring Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer and Richard Haydn among others. Full screen in color. Released in 1965. Runtime 175 minutes.
