The movie, The Wackiest Ship In The Army is an outrageous war-based commedy set against the backdrop of the World War II.  The plot centers on a navy officer Rip Crandall who is recruited to command a battered old schooner for a top secret mission.  Masquerading as a Japanese fishing boat, this nautical nightmare must smuggle a spy thorugh the mine-invested waters of the South Pacific.  Unfortunately for the seasoned Crandall, he has inherited a crew of "butter-fingered" landlubbers personified by his first officer Tommy Hanson.  The main question quickly becomes, can Crandall whip this rag tag group of men into a fighting force in time to carry out the assigned mission?  Only time will tell if they can be successful.  Starring Jack Lemmon, Ricky Nelson and John Lund among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1960.  Runtime 99 minutes.
