The movie, The Wrong Man, is an Alfred Hitchcock thriller that was actually based on a true story.  When a number of eyewitnesses to a series of armed robberies point the finger to a big band base player named Manny Balestrero, it seems certain The Wrong Man is going to be convicted of these crimes and do some serious jail time.  While Manny contains his rage throughout the ordeal, his wife, who is initially supportive, is eventually driven to madness.  While the actual armed robber is eventually found and Manny is cleared of all charges, the devastation to his family, particularly is wife is very unsettling.  The Wrong Man is an atypical Hitchcock film in that its strangeness is not the stuff of fiction but is rather based on actual events.  In the end, Hitchcock brings this unsettling event to the screen with a documentary style realism using information provided by actual participants in this case.  Several of the film locations like the Stork Club and Manny's jail cell were the historically correct spots where many of the story's events actually unfolded.  Starring Henry Fonda, Vera Miles and Anthony Quayle among others.  Full screen in black and white.  Released in 1956.  Runtime of 101 minutes.
