The book, The raiders - desert strike force, tells the fascinating story of two different Allied irregular attack groups that while small in numbers, played a critical part in ultimately defeating the German and Italian troops fighting in North Africa during World War II.  While victory in the desert took three long grinding years, many battles and much sacrifice, the desert raiders of the LRDG and SAS military units were an important component in the eventual success of the Allied forces over the Axis armies.  Their role in this conflict and in subsequent battles is uique in the history of warfare.  Withou their combined efforts, victory would have come later and at far great cost in terms of material and men.  The major sections of this book are as follows: 1) The Major comes to Cairo; 2) Into action; 3) The Subaltern from Scotland; 4) The raids from Jalo; 5) Beurat and Bengazi; 6) Benghazi again; 7) Save Malta!; 8) The jeep raid; 9) Daffodil and other flowers; 10) El Alamein and after and 11) Bibliography.  Included in this book are the following: 1) Approximately 88 black and white photographs; 2) 8 illustrations and 3) 2 Maps.  This book is 160 pages and is in very good condition.  The author is Arthur Swinson.  Edition published in 1968.
