The Tiger I was a German heavy tank deployed initially in 1942 and operated continuously until the end of the war in 1945. The basic chassis design also became the basis for the Sturmtiger heavy self-propelled gun and the Bergetiger amored recovery vehicle. The Tiger I was armed with an 88 mm heavy cannon mounted into a 360 degree traversing turret and weighed almost 57 tons. It was also heavily armored which proved to reduce its effective combat range. While not as big a factor in the other combat theaters the Tiger I operated in, its use in Western Europe was hindered by the fact that many of the established bridges over smaller rivers could not support its massive weight which impacted how and where it could be deployed. The Tiger I carried a crew of five given its large size and its multiple secondary machine gun armament. This older, out-of-production Tiger I Ausf.E Sd. Kfz. 181 kit is highly detailed and molded in tan colored plastic. The kit includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a tank operated by Germany during World War II; 2) Crewman molded in green plastic; 3) Detailed chassis, hull and turret; 4) Detailed main cannon; 5) Two black "link-in-length" soft plastic tracks; 6) Painting guide and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in excellent condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
