The movie, Tobruk, centers on a group British special forces unit made up of British commandos, German Jews and an American demolition's expert who must travel 800 miles through the Sahara desert in order to destroy a hugh Axis fuel dump prior to an impending Allied amphibious landing against the German soldiers holding Tobruk.  Along the way this Allied commando force must deal with one impediment after another including the discovery of a previously undetected German armored force massing for an invasion of Egypt.  This movie is an interesting rendition of the events surrounding the eventual Allied invasion of North Africa including the eventual battle for Tobruk.  Note: this version of the film Tobruk was produced in Germany for international audiences.  Starring Rock Hudson, George Peppard and Nigel Green among others.  Widescreen in color.  Released in 1967.  Runtime 105 minutes.
