The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien (Allied code name Tony) was a single seat, single engine Japanese World War II fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force between 1943 and 1945.  The Ki-61 was also the only mass-produced World War II era Japanese fighter to utilize a liquid-cooled inline engine.  By the time production had ceased in 1945 approximately 3,200 Ki-61s of all variants had been produced.  The operational characteristics of the Ki-61 are as follows: 1) Top speed of about 360 m.p.h.; 2) Combat range of just over 350 miles and 3) Service ceiling of 38,000 feet.  The Ki-61's armament consisted of two 20 mm cannon and two 12.7 mm machine guns.  It could also carry two 550 l.b. bombs on short range missions.  This older Tony Kawasaki Ki-61 model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for two different aircraft flown by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force during World War II; 2) Clear canopy; 3) Recessed panel line detail; 4) Paint guide and 5) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in like-new condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
