The movie, Too Late The Hero, is a pulsating, World War II thriller. The plot centers on an American Naval officer named Lawson, who is fluent in Asiatic languages and because of this is sent to the Pacific combat theater to assist a group of British soldiers in their attempt to knock-out the Japanese Army's main transmitter on the island. Soon into the mission, however, the Allied soldiers realize they are up against tremendous odds and that hopes of survival are slim. Lawson ,who from the beginning was a "reluctant hero", takes charge of whats left of their group and devises a daring escape plan. This often overlooked World War II movie features exotic sets, great special effects and suspenseful firefights with the enemy which makes this film well worth watching. Starring Michael Caine, Cliff Robertson and Ian Bannen among others. Widescreen in color. Released in 1969. Runtime 134 minutes.
