The Douglas A-4D Skyhawk fighter-bomber, which entered service with the U.S. Navy in October, 1956 was a small in stature American combat jet of the Cold War era.  The tiny Skyhawk combineed a speed comparable with many pure jet fighters and the ability to carry an atomic bomb.  Its simplified wing design also makes it easier to produce and maintain as compared with most modern, complicated jet aircraft.  The Skyhawk is powered by one Wright J65 Turbojet, giving it a top speed of approximatley 700 m.p.h..  Armament consists of two 20 mm cannon and an underwing load can include bombs, rockets and guided missles.  The A-4 is also notable for its use by the "Top Gun" Fighter Weapons School at the Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, California as the "aggressor" aircraft in mock aerial dogfights.  The "Top Gun" instructors fly both F-5 and A-4 Skyhawks, oftened painted to resemble Eastern Bloc aircraft.  This Top Gun: A-4 Aggressor aircraft model comes specially packaged with photographs and a movie review of the 1986 hit movie on the back.  This model also includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for an "aggressor" aircraft as flown at the Top Gun Fighter Weapons School; 2) Clear canopy; 3) Detailed landing gear; 4) Recessed panel lines and 5) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
