The book, True Stories Of World War II, represents a condensed anthology of many different stories that came out of World War II.  All of these stories have appeared in full length in The Reader's Digest from the early days of the war up to the present.  Some of the stories are based on personal first-hand accounts, others are based on war correspondent reporting and still others have not come to light until years after the conclusion of this epic confrontation.  The short story titles are as follows: 1) I Saw England; 2) Reach For The Sky; 3) The 900 Days: The Siege Of Leningrad; 4) See Here, Private Hargrove; 5) Go For Broke!; 6) A Sinister Twilight: The Fall Of Singapore: 7) They Were Expendable; 8) The Amazing Mr. Doolittle: 9) Dress Rehearsal: The Story Of Dieppe; 10) Miracle At Midway; 11) 24 Days On A Raft; 12) Enemy At The Gates: The Battle Of Stalingrad; 13) Assualt In Norway; 14) Bridge To Victory: The Taking Of Attu; 15) The Intrepid Midgets: 16) American Guerrilla In The Philippines: 17) Mission Beyond Darkness; 18) Those Devils In Baggy Pants; 19) The Longest Day; 20) Is Paris Burning?; 21) The Unconquerables; 22) A Bridge Too Far; 23) Some Affairs To Honor; 24) The Last Days Of Benito Mussolini; 25) The Last Battle and 26) Bridge To The Sun.  These 26 stories reflect the range of global war, the first by a correspondent in Britain during the 1940 "blitz" and the last by an American woman in Japan when Emperor Hirohito spoke for the first time over radio announcing the end of World War II.  These stories are not lavishly illustrated but the words written make compelling reading all the same.  This book is 447 pages and is in excellent condition.  The editor is Nancy J. Sparks.  Edition published in 1987.
