The movie, Tunes Of Glory is a British film based on a novel and screenplay by James Kennaway.  The film centers on events in a Scottish Highland regimental barracks during the post World War II era.  The plot revolves around two rivaling Colonels, one replacing the other in the Scottish Regiment.  This powerful and deeply moving drama reveals the intense conflict between the inexperienced newcomer and his well-liked outgoing counterpart.  During the protracted change in command between the two Colonels, bitterness and resentment escalate, leading to a series of events and a climax, which is as moving as it is shocking.  "Tunes Of Glory" earned an Academy Award nomination for "Best Screenplay" and at its core uncovers a clash of wills, pride and ambition that explode into a personal war between the two Colonels.  "Tunes Of Glory" is short on scenery but displays a strong acting performance on the part of the two lead characters.  Starring Alec Guinness, John Mills and Dennis Price among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1960.  Runtime 107 minutes.
