In many ways faithful to the World War II genre, this submarine action thriller pays homage to the determination of ordinary people facing extraordinary situations that frequently occur during times of war.  The plot of this movie centers on the  assignment to the mostly inexperienced crew of the S-33 the mission of intercepting the disabled U-571 in order to capture its top secret enigma coding machine.  The successful capture of this machine will allow the allies to crack the Nazi's communication codes and in so doing hasten an Allied victory in the North Atlantic. Racing against a known German rescue effort, the S-33 stages a daring raid on the U-571 but after capturing the machine becomes hostage to submarine and must then guide the leaky vessel thorugh hostile enemy waters.  This special edition includes the following: 1) Behind the scenes look at the making of U-571; 2) Interviews with the cast a crewand 3) A featurette on making the submarine for the movie.  Starring Mathew MaConaughey, Jon Bon Jovi and David Keith among others.  Full screen in color.
