The American M4 Sherman Medium Tank was the primary tank produced by the U.S. for its own use and the use of its Allies during World War II. In total, over 50,000 units were produced and its chassis served as the platform for other armored vehicles such as tank destoryers, tank retrievers and self-propelled artillery. The M4 was used by the U.S. Army and Marines until the end of the Korean war but soldiered on with many other nations in both training and combat roles well into the 20th Century. The first M4A1, which is the subject of this model, was introduced into combat in July of 1944. It carried a 76 mm high velocity gun which allowed it to be more effective in combat against often superior and heavier German tanks. This older model of the M4A1 Sherman Tank is molded in olive drab colored plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a tank operated by the United States Army during World War II; 2) Detailed Chassis; 3) Detailed Hull; 4) Detailed turret; 5) One flexible .50 caliber machine gun; 6) One tank crewman; 7) Two flexible vinyl tracks; 8) Paint guide and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in excellent condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
