Famed for its extensive use at one time by many of the major airlines, the venerable Douglas DC-3 has given way to larger and faster jet aircraft but despite this there are still many flying as cargo carriers and chartered airliners to this day.  The DC-3 was the first Douglas aircraft built as a "large" transport.  Nicknamed the "workhorse of the airways", over 12,000 DC-3s were manufactured over a twenty-year period.  The DC-3 was used extensively by the United States Army Air Corps (Air Force) where it was designated the C-47, as well as, by the Navy, which designated it the R-4D-5.  This older U.S. Navy DC-3 model includes the following features: 1) authentic Markings for a DC-3 operated by the U.S. Navy; 2) Clear plastic cockpit and cabin glass areas; 3) Molded in gray colored plastic; 4) Recessed panel lines; 5) Rivet detail; 6) Spinning propellers; 7) Two seated crew figures and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions.   The box is in very good condition but does have some edge and corner-wear.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
