This postcard depicts the USS Cabot (CVL 28), a small World War II era aircraft carrier, under steam against the backdrop of a pastel colored sky. The legend reads: "Commissioned July 24, 1943, Captain Malcolm F. Schoeffel in command. CABOT, last CVL survivor, was sold to Spain in 1972. The CABOT-DEDALO was returned to the U.S. in 1989. Iron Woman, as she was known, rests in Kenner, LA, soon to become a historical museum. CABOT earned nine battle stars and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for WW II service". It is identified as dg-P83049. This postcard contains no writing, is free of noticeable stains or marks and is in overall excellent condition.
