The book, USS Silversides SS 236, tells the story of the most decorated surviving Navy submarine from World War II which is now berthed in Muskegon, Michigan as a museum ship. This book represents an illustrated record of the Silversides' war patrol period that occurred between December 1941 and August 1945. The orientation of this book is around the 14 war patrols the USS Silversides undertook in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. In addition to an informative narrative, this book includes the following features: 1) 84 black and white photographs; 2) 4 interior color photographs; 3) 1 cut-away black and white line drawing; 4) 1 black and white illustration; 5) 28 map covering the USS Silversides 14 war patrols; 6) Officers roster and 7) Enlisted men's roster. The USS Silversides is now a registered National Historic Landmark and is open for public tours year around. In addition, the USS Silversides and restored Coast Guard Cutter McLane are available for overnight stays by youth groups including the Boy Scouts. This book is 49 pages and is in very good condition but does have some slight wear on the cover. The writing, book layout and assembly was provided by Marc Okkonen. Edition published in 1998.
