The movie, Uncommon Valor, is a powerful action-packed adventure film about the recovery of a American marine who has been missing in action in Vietnam for over ten years.  The plot of this film centers on a Colonel Jason Rhodes who, with the backing of a wealthy Texas oil tycoon, assembles a team of five former U.S. Marines to infiltrate Vietnam in order to rescue his son who has been M.I.A. since the United States left Vietnam in 1973.  Colonel Rhodes decides to take matters into his own hands after useless appeals to the United States government fall on deaf ears.  After weeks of training the team leaves for Laos to launch their rescue mission against impossible odds.  The "final battle" of the Vietnam war is about to begin.  Starring Gene Hackman, Robert Stack and Patrick Swayze among others.  Widescreen in color.  Released in 1983.  Runtime 104 minutes.
