The Thunderbirds are a world renowned flight demonstration squadron of the United States Air Force (U.S.A.F.) that began, after six months of intensive training, touring air shows in 1953.  The “Thunderbirds” were initially based at Luke Air Force Base just west of Phoenix but now are headquartered at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The jet aircraft flown by the U.S.A.F. “Thunderbirds” since their inception are as follows: 1) Straight-wing F-84 G Thunderjet; 2) Swept-wing F-84 F Thunderstreak; 3) F-100 C Super Sabre; 4) F-105 Thunderchief; 5) F-4 E Phantom; 6) T-38 Talon and most recently 7) F-16 A Fighting Falcon.  This U.S.A.F. organization includes 12 officers serving two-year assignments and up to 120 enlisted personnel who serve three to four year terms.  The “Thunderbirds” currently fly six F-16 A Fighting Falcons in their aerial demonstrations and perform at up to 88 air shows annually.  This United States Air Force Thunderbirds (50th Anniversary Set) scaled model set includes the following: 1) Authentic red, white & blue markings for six F-16 A Fighting Falcon aircraft; 2) Clear plastic canopies; 3) Detailed landing gear; 4) History of the Thunderbirds booklet; 5) Recessed panel lines and 6) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in new condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
