The book, United States Navy Aircraft Since 1911 (second edition) is considered the standard reference work in the field and covers the aircraft which have served with the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps and United States Coastguard from 1911 to 1976.  This book edition includes the following new entries: 1) Hawker Siddeley Av-8 A Harrier - first VTOL fighter in Marine Corps service; 2) Grumman F-14 A Tomcat - first variable geometry jet fighter in Navy Service and 3) Lockheed S-3 A Viking - first jet powered antisubmarine warfare aircraft in Navy service.  The main part of this book covers 130 significant aircraft types with each being illustrated by the following: 1) At least one black and white photograph; 2) A three-view black and white line drawing; 3) Many supplemental drawings which show variants and 4) Relevant text that covers the development history, operational service and major variants of each aircraft type.  Limited coverage is given for aircraft procured for service but of less significance.  Separate appendices chronicle foreign aircraft, gliders and airships.  Other features include brief chapters on United States Naval Aviation history, naval aircraft classifications, naval aircraft colorings and aircraft identification markings.  This book is sure to be of interest to those interested in the technological history of Naval aircraft, as well as, to naval aviation history fans.  This book is 546 pages and is in very good condition.  Note: this book's dust cover, however, is worn and has a number of small tears.  The authors are Gordon Swanborough and Peter M. Bowers.  Edition published in 1976.

The hazard that piled up frozen or near frozen leaves is this: even if they ground rewarms, there are so many layers of leaves down now that the bottommost are likely to remain frozen or, at least, in a state of almost permafrost.Slippery leaves at a corn
