The movie, War Birds, centers on a small team of American "Top Gun" pilots who are recruited as mercenaries to fly a covert air attack against radicals in the Middle East country of El Alahaim.  Their goal is to rescue the country and its leader, Sheik Ali Hadhi.  The group is recruited and lead by Lieutenant Colonel Ronson.  The "Top Gun" pilots include Billy Hawkins and Jim Harris with forward ground support provided by Vince Costello who is a C.I.A. trained, former United States Marine.  The mercenaries' first mission is compromised by a traitor who gives away their plans and as a result pilot Jim Harris is killed and Vince Costello is captured.  In a follow-up attack Lieutenant Colonel Ronson and Hawkins fly the mission knowing they may not return.  Despite the risk, Ronson and Hawkins fly towards El Alahaim for the final showdown thus putting their lives and pride on the line once again.  Starring Jim Eldert, Cully Holland and Bill Brinsfield among others.  Full screen in color.  Runtime 88 minutes.  Released in 1988.
