The book, Warplanes Of Yesteryear represents a pictorial study of the development of military aircraft from 1914 to the end of World War II. The term "warplane" in "Warplanes Of Yesteryear" has been given a broad interpretation to include not just offensive aircraft like bombers and fighters but also military support aircraft like transports and trainers. As the author readily admits, "Warplanes Of Yesteryear" does not present a detailed insight into the histories of the aircraft of the past. Rather, this book offers a representative sampling of well known historical aircraft with some interesting "one-offs" and "might-have-beens" thrown in for "good-measure". The aircraft reviewed in "Warplanes Of Yesteryear" include an informative caption and are displayed chronologically in an attractive album format. The basis for selecting the aircraft reviewed in this book includes in part the following criterion: 1) Pictorial appeal of the photograph; 2) Angle of the photograph and 3) Intrinsic interest of the aircraft. In addition to an informative introduction and picture captions, "Warplanes Of Yesteryear" includes approximately 277 black and white photographs. "Warplanes Of Yesteryear" is sure to appeal to aircraft buffs, hobbyists and students of the history of aviation alike. This book is 122 pages and is in very good condition. The author is Kenneth G. Munson. Edition published in 1966.
