The book, Who Was Who In The Civil War, is an alphabetically organized encyclopedia containing some 520 biographies of the Civil War's most notable figures, including men and women, as well as, civilian and military.  While this book is not intended to be a general history of the American Civil War, the outline of that history is presented via the biographies of the war's most noteworthy figures, especially those of Davis, Grant, Jefferson, Robert E. Lee, Lincoln and Sherman.  Given the many battles fought and the overall scope of the American Civil War which was waged between 1861 and 1865, a reference book like the "Who Was Who In The Civil War" represents an indispensable addition to any armchair general or military historian's library.  In addition to an informative narrative, this book includes the following features: 1) Approximately 304 vintage black and white photographs; 2) About 57 black and white illustrations and 3) 33 color illustrations.  This book is 224 pages and is in like-new condition.  The general editor is John S.
