The movie, Wild Horse, was produced in 1931 and as such is an early western themed movie. The central character, a "good-guy" cowboy, is blamed for the murder of his partner shortly after their successful capture of the legendary, man-killing wild "Devil Horse". Having been offerred a $1,000 reward by a rodeo organizer for capturing the "Devil Horse", the two partners begin to set-up camp when their horses are set free by another cowboy who wants to create this diversion in order to steal the "Devil Horse" from them. When the remaining partner tries to stop this theft he is killed. The other partner returns with their horses only to discover that his partner is dead. Unfortunately the local Sheriff happens along the way at this time and comes to the conclusion that the "good-guy" cowboy killed his partner. On the way in to the jail the Sheriff is gunned down by a local bandit who has recently robbed the local bank. After the "good-guy" cowboy drops the Sheriff off at the doctors office he proceeds to try and clear his name. Along the way he decides at the last minute to ride the "Devil Horse" at the rodeo and in so doing saves the show. Eventually the Sheriff figures out that the "good-guy" cowboy is innocent and must be set free. Oh, he also wins the hand of the beautiful daughter of the rodeo organizer along the way. While the picture quality of this early western movie is not all that great, it is interesting to watch as it helped to form the basis for all the western themed motion pictures that followed and as such is, from a historical context, well worth watching. Starring Hoot Gibson, Albert A. Vaughn and Stepin Fetchit among others. Full screen in black and white. Released in 1931. Runtime 67 minutes.
