The Yak III was a light-weight, single engine, single seat fighter designed and built by Aleksandr Yakovlev for use by the Russian Air Froce during World War II.  The Yak III was developed from the Yak I and was very maneuverable and quick.  It was developed to be a "point interceptor" and to meet the requirements of the classic dogfight style of aerial combat.  The Yak III was well-liked by its pilots and was relatively easy to fly and maintain.  The Yak III ended up being produced in greater numbers than all other Soviet fighters combined during World War II.  This older Yak III model is molded in gray plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings are included for the following two aircraft: A) Aircraft flown by Soviet pilot Sergei Lugakski who was a decorated "hero" of the Soviet Union and B) Aircraft flown by the Volunteer Free- French Normandie-Nieman Regiment of the V-VS; 2) Clear plastic canopy; 3) Recessed panel lines; 4) Painting guide and 5) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
