The Yakovlev Yak-15 was a first generation, light-weight Soviet jet fighter that was introduced in 1947.  It incorporated the rear fuselage, tail unit, tail wheel undercarriage and wings of the piston engine Yak-3 U.  The Yak-15 also incorporated a jet engine design that was essentially a copy of the World War II era German Junkers Jumo 004 B turbojet powerplant.  The Yak-15 was retired from service in the early 1950s and when production had ceased, almost 300 had been produced.  The operational characteristics of the Yak-15 are as follows: 1) Top speed approximately 430 m.p.h.; 2) Combat range of just over 300 miles and 3) Service ceiling of almost 44,000 feet.  The Yak-15's primary armament consisted of two 23 mm cannons.  This older Yak-15 model is molded in light tan colored plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for an early post World War II aircraft flown by the Soviet Air Force; 2) Clear plastic canopy; 3) Recessed panel lines; 4) Painting guide in color and 5) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.   Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
