The movie, Queenie, is based on Michael Korda's best selling book of the same name and represents a lavish journey into the glamour, intrigue and famous world of movie making during the 1930s. The movie follows the meteoric rise of a young woman who is running from a past she can not escape yet despite the odds achieves a triumph she could never have imagined. the plot centers on Queenie who is wrongfully accussed of murder in Calcutta, India. She escapes from this injustice and travels to London, England where she begins her rise to stardom. Along the way she is assisted by a photographer and a famed movie producer. Just as she reaches the peak of her fame, however, dark secrets from her past and jealous rivalries from her present threaten to destroy her dreams and shatter her fragile successes.
